Managing Director of Hands Carpets & Rugs
Hands Carpets & Rugs has spent over 144 years creating the most beautiful carpets and perfecting the art of handcrafting intricate designs with transcendent quality. In the 1980s, stewardship of the brand passed to the Patodia family, with the second generation now at the helm. Today, Apurva Patodia, Managing Director, along with Deepankar Choudhary and Pranay Patodia, oversees the company's worldwide operations.
Apurva completed his schooling at Welham Boys' School in Dehradun, India, and pursued higher education in Commerce. Lured by the sheer attraction of creativity and the satisfaction of creating jobs for artisans, he joined his father in the family business at a very early age.
His journey into international hospitality began in the 1990s with high-profile projects such as the Park Hyatt Hamburg and Grand Hyatt Berlin. These formative experiences laid the foundation for his role in curating bespoke solutions for prestigious global landmarks, including the Armani Hotel in Dubai, and most notably, the Grand Nur Sultan Mosque in Kazakhstan — which features the world's largest handmade carpet spanning 12,800 square metres, crafted and installed by Hands.
